The counterweight box for the guide scope.

The guide scope and its wooden mount weigh in at about 26 pounds and this much weight requires a counterweight on the opposite side of the mirror box. I constructed a box and bolted it to the opposite side of the mirror box. I use this to hold an 18 amp hour battery and a juice bottle filled with lead shot. The amount of lead shot was adjusted to get a nice balance when the scope is pointed at the zenith.
